EURAO Party - Summer 2024: CQ 8m

The European Radio Amateurs' Organization announces a new party on the air, this time with the motto: "CQ 8m". Remember this is not a contest, it is just a radio meeting with a few simple 'rules', better to call them recommendations.

Purpose: in recent years, the 8m (40 MHz) band has been legalized for use by radio amateurs in some countries, such as: Belgium, Ireland, Poland, UK, Slovenia, South Africa and lately Spain. This band, halfway between the 10m and the 6m, can be very interesting to experiment with F2 and sporadic E propagation. So have fun contacting other hams all over the world or just SWLing them.

Date & time: from June 15th to September 15th, 2024, 00:00-24:00 UTC.

Bands & modes: all modes on 8m band. Pay attention: each country may have different authorized frequency segments. Even cross-band contacts are allowed.

Call: "CQ EURAO Party".

Exchange: because this is a QSO event, not a contest, you can talk about whatever you want, in any language, and for as long as you like. Here are some topic suggestions to get the conversation going: name, city, locator, weather, antennas, rigs, etc.

Also talk about QSL interchange. Tell the truth. Say "no, thanks" if you are not interested in QSL cards. But if you would like to have a memory of your contact, feel free to use our EuroBureauQSL (see below).

Logs: for statistic purposes only, we ask participants to submit their logs to party@eurao.org in ADIF format, where the filename should be your callsign (e.g. EA3RKF.ADI).

There will be no results or league tables, only statistical information about number of QSOs, countries, callsigns, OMs/YLs/Clubs, etc.

Certificate of Participation: for all those sending the log and without a minimum of confirmed QSOs.

EuroBureauQSL: you can use it to interchange QSLs even if you are not member. In this case, just send the QSL to the entry point in the country of the station you have contacted.

Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe Memorial by CISAR nuevo

Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe Memorial by CISAR The Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe Memorial, organized by the CISAR Campobasso section, was successfully held from August 14 to 24, 2024. The event was meticulously planned by team members IW8XOI Vittorio, IK8EQG Giovanni, and IZ8IAW Giuseppe, from obtaining the callsign II8SMK to setting up the radio station in a warm venue provided by the Conventual Friars of the San Pietro Apostolo Parish.

Despite initial technical difficulties, the team quickly resolved them and began making numerous QSOs, primarily on the 40m band, connecting with Italian and European radio operators despite challenging propagation conditions.
