The European Radio Amateurs' Organization
announces a new party on the air, this time with the motto: "CQ 8m".
Remember this is not a contest, it is just a radio meeting with a few simple 'rules', better to call them recommendations.
Purpose: in recent years, the 8m (40 MHz) band has been legalized for use by radio amateurs in some countries,
such as: Belgium, Ireland, Poland, UK, Slovenia, South Africa and lately Spain.
This band, halfway between the 10m and the 6m, can be very interesting to experiment with F2 and sporadic E propagation.
So have fun contacting other hams all over the world or just SWLing them.
Date & time: from June 15th to September 15th, 2024, 00:00-24:00 UTC.
Bands & modes: all modes on 8m band.
Pay attention: each country may have different authorized frequency segments.
Even cross-band contacts are allowed.
Call: "CQ EURAO Party".

Amateur Radio News... (cont.)
August Marins, Gust, ON7GZ, was currently honorary president of
EURAO,
where he also held the position of president since the approval of its first statutes in 2013, to whose first draft
he contributed decisively, until 2015, when for health reasons he took a step down.
Previously, he had also actively participated in the Promoters Committee of EURAO since its inception in 2009.
In his country, Belgium, he was also the architect of the union of several local associations;
president of VRA;
the promoter of maintaining good relations with the
UFRC, which brings together radio amateurs from the
French-speaking part of the country, with whom they even created the
FRA,
and also with the VRZA of the Netherlands;
needless to say, he also cultivated good relations with the
BIPT
to advocate radio amateurs and amateur radio.
We have lost a man of clear ideas and an executive character, but the memory of him will last among us. RIP.
With the goal of "Connecting every school in the world to the Internet", both,
UNICEF and ITU,
have therefore joined forces to create this global initiative, called Giga, to connect every school to the Internet by 2030.
EURAO, as a sector member of ITU-R, was invited to this event that was the kick off the
Giga Technology Centre in Barcelona (Spain).
